The Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission (LCWSC) received the Category 4 Water System of the Year for the State of South Carolina during the 30th Annual South Carolina Rural Water Association (SCRWA) meeting held in Myrtle Beach. Category 4, 10,000+water taps, is the largest category for which the award is given.

Marion Freeman also received the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator of the Year. Marion has been with the LCWSC for 28 years and currently manages the Clinton/Joanna WWTP which serves the southern part of Laurens County.
