LCWSC Water Distribution Constructs 1,000,000 Gallon Elevated Storage Tank in Northern Laurens County
The Owings Elevated Storage Tank project consists of the installation of a one million (1,000,000) gallon elevated tank in the newly developed Owings Industrial Park. The new elevated tank is the largest tank in the LCWSC inventory and will serve future industries that locate in the Owings Industrial Park and along the I-385 Industrial Corridor. The tank will also serve industries that have recently located or expanded operations in the surrounding community (Country Fresh, ISO Poly). This 1,000,000 tank will provide more reliable water service to existing customers in both Greenville and Laurens Counties while providing enough reserve capacity to allow for future growth and economic development in the region. The new tank is 180 feet tall and was constructed at the same hydraulic grade (990 ft above mean sea level) as the existing elevated tanks on Greenpond Road and Bethany Road. The tank construction began in February 2009 and is expected to be in full operation by November 2009.
